Be inspired by illustrations to create a story for this competition

The two landscapes, drawn by Becca McCall and Siobhan McDonald, should be used, either singly or together, to imagine a sci-fi story up to 1,000 words.

The winner will receive £40 and a digital subscription to Shorelines of Infinity. Two runners up will win a digital subscription. The top three stories will be published in Shorelines of Infinity, and the best stories will be published in a 2018 Shorelines of Infinity anthology. Each contributor will receive a pro-rata share of royalties.

Writers may submit up to two stories. Entry is free but submitting writers have to identity a secret code word obtainable from Issue 8 of Shorelines of Infinity (a digital download costs £2.60).

The closing date is 30 September.
