The theme for this year's contest is 'Beginnings'
Verve Poetry Festival took a year out during the pandemic, but is looking ahead to the festival taking place in 2022. As a result, they are also running their poetry competition, which has the theme of 'Beginnings' and will be judged by Caroline Bird (pictured).
The first prize is £500, and there are second and third prizes of £250 and £100. Winners and 21 commended poets will be included in the Verve Festival's 'Beginnings' anthology.
Enter original, unpublished poems no longer than 80 lines.
The entry fee is £5 for one, £8 for two, £11 for three, £14 for four and £17 for five.
The closing date is 30 September.
