The contest from Clevedon Litfest marks the 60th anniversary of the 1965 Mowtown Revue arriving in the UK
The international competition invites motorcity stories told in poetry. Writers may interpret the theme in any way, celebrating the Motown sound and its spin-offs and the effect on popular culture and individual lives. Enter poems no longer than 50 lines.
There is a first prize of £1,000 and an additional £100 prize for the best entry from a writer living in Somerset. Winners will be invited to perform their poems at Clevedon Litfest, and winning entries will be published in an electronic anthology. The judge is music writer Adam White, author of Motown: The Sound of Young America.
The entry fee is £10 for up to three poems.
The closing date is 20 March.
