Poems are invited on the theme of 'My Reasons to be Cheerful'

The East Riding Festival of Words poetry competition will be judged by a panel of Yorkshire poets, led by James Nash.

In the open adult category, there are prizes of £500, £200 and £150. Six hihgly commended poets will each get £25. In the primary school and secondary school cateogries for young poets, the prizes are £75 and £50, and two highly commended young poets will each get £25.

Enter original, unpublished poems up to 45 lines on the theme.

The entry fee for adults is £4 per poem. Young people's entries are free.

The closing date is 27 November.
