The Wigtown Prize is worth £1,500 to the winner

The international Wigtown Poetry Prize welcomes entries from poets writing in English, and has separate categories for poets writing in Scots and Scottish Gaelic.

All entries should consist of original, unpublished poems no longer than 40 lines. The categories are:

• The Wigtown International Poetry Prize: £1,500 and £200. Entry fee £10.

• The Wigtown Scots Poetry Prize: £500 and £200. Entry fee £8.

• Wigtown Gaelic Poetry Prize: £500 and £200. Entry fee £8.

• Dumfries and Galloway Fresh Voice Award: Professional development and mentoring plus a retreat a Moniack Mhor. Entry fee £10.

• Alastair Reid Pamphlet Prize: 30 copies of a pamphlet of the winner's work set by Gerry Cambridge. entry fee £25.

Winners will be publihsed online and may be invited to read at StAnza 2026.
