Poetry competition: East Riding Festival of Words Poetry Competition

This year's theme is 'my companion, my best friend'

The competition, which will be judged by a panel of published Yorkshire poets led by James Nash, is for original, unpublished poems up to 45 lines, on the competition theme.

In the adult category, there is a first prize of £500. The Philip Larkin Prize is £250, the East Riding Gold Prize is £200 and thee East Riding Silver Prize is £150. In the school-age poets categories (primary and secondary), the prizes are £75 and £50 in each age group. There are six £25 highly commended prizes (two in each age group). There is also a prison competition prize of £100.

Entry in the adult category is £4 per poem.

The closing date is 28 November.
