The competition is to find the most thoughtful and inspiring poem about Europe

The competition, which is described as a creative response to the UK/EU Brexit negotiations, has prizes of £500 in each of the adult and young person's categories. The top twenty in each category will be published online and in print.

Supporters of A Poem for Europe include Marina Warner, Vanessa Kisuule, Dominic Grieve and Michael Eavis. Gillian Clarke will judge the adult poetry category and Vanessa Kisuule will judge the young person's category, which is for poems by writers aged 16 to 25.

Enter original, unpublished poems up to 32 lines relating to the theme of A Poem for Europe.

The entry fee is £6 per poem for adult entries, and £3 per poem for entries by young poets.

The closing date is 31 July.
