There's a £1,000 first prize in each of the Open and Health Professional categories

The Hippocrates Prize for Poetry and Medicine is an annual international competition for an unpublished poem on a medical subject. There are three prize categories: Open, Health Professional (for health-professional related students and staff) and Young Poet.

In the Open and Health Professional categories, there are prizes of £1,000, £500, £250 and up to twenty commendations. The Young Poet Prize is £500. Winning poems will be published in an anthology and online.

Enter original, unpublished poems on medical subjects up to 50 lines.

There is an entry fee of £7 per poem online and £10 postal in the Open and Health Professional categories.

The closing date is 14 February 2022.
