Peter Andre joined forces with Boris Johnson this morning to launch a new children's literacy scheme ...
Pop singer, TV personality and father of two Peter Andre joined forces with Mayor of London Boris Johnson at London's Botwell Green Library this morning to launch a new reading and literacy scheme for children between three and five.

The scheme, run by The LIteracy Trust, will recruit volunteers to be either Literacy Champions or Reading Ambassadors across 12 London boroughs. The Literacy Champion volunteers will work on a one-to-one basis with families where a child has been identified as having learning development issues. The Reading Ambassadors wlll give additional support to reading schemes across the boroughs.

Backing the scheme, Andre said: 'As a child I adored books and listening to the fantastic stories my parents would tell me and my brother. Now I’m a parent myself, I’ve shared that passion for stories with my children. I love talking to them about their day and reading them bed time stories. Reading doesn’t need to be a chore, and the earlier we get our kids to embrace it, the better.'
