There's still time for crime writers to enter the Margery Allingham Short Story Competition 2017 and the Debut Dagger Competition
• The CWA's Debut Dagger 2017 Competition for the Opening of a Crime Novel is for up to 3,000 words of the opening of a crime novel and a 1,000-word synopsis. The prize is £1,000 and the shortlist is shown to agents and publishers. The entry fee is £36 and the closing date is 28 February.
• The CWA's Margery Allingham Short Story Competition is for an unpublished short story using Margery Allingham's definition of a mystery, up to 3,500 words. The prize is £500 and two free passes to CrimeFest 2018. The entry fee is £12 and the closing date is 1 March.
