Enter feature essays on an author or short story recommendations in the free-entry competition

The winner will receive £500, and two runners up each get £100.

• Author profiles should explore the life, work and influence of a single short story writer.

• We Recommend essays may be recommendations of a collection, anthology, group of short stories or single short story.

The minimum wordcount for essays is 750 words, and the maximum, 2,000. All entries must be original, unpublished non-fiction essays.

Entry is free. The closing date is 18 March.
