The online writing community has joined forces with Random House Children's Publishers to launch The Sony Young Movellist of the Year Awards

The free-to-enter awards are open to young writers between 13 and 19. The winner will receive a publishing contract with Random House Children's Publishing.

Movellas community director Yvonne Biggins said: 'This competition provides a fantastic chance to discover
fresh talent and opens up opportunities for writers keen to take their storytelling to the next level who may previously
have felt held back by their age. With entrants required to submit a full novel this is a serious challenge, requiring real
dedication. But if the thousands of stories being published on the site everyday tell me anything, it’s that there is a
huge desire amongst young people to express their voice and see "for teens, by teens" literature taken seriously.'

To enter, writers should be registered on Movellas, and send a completed novel of at least 40,000 words to [email protected].

The closing date is 14 April.
