It is an opportunity for new and emerging writers from the region to learn about the industry
Taking place in partnership with Northumbria University on 4 May, the inaugural Newcastle Writing Conference will include:
• A keynote speech from novelist Stephen May
• Panels and discussions with literary agents, editors and publishers
• A panel on bookselling and ebooks
• A section on digital publishing hosted by The Literary Platform
Claire Malcolm, chief executive of New Writing North, said: 'We felt that it was important to have a high-calibre writing conference in the North which brought writers from the North's burgeoning creative writing scene into contact with key publishing industry players and experts to share ideas about the industry that many of them are breaking into.
'The conference builds on New Writing North's track record of supporting and developing writers from a very early stage of their careers as we have done with the Northern Writers' Awards since 2000.'
Early bird tickets are available until 31 March, priced at £79. After that, tickets are £99.
