Ledbury Poetry Festival has launched a new poetry prize: The Ledbury Forte Poetry Prize for Second Collections. The biennial contest is worth £5,000 to the winner, and this year will be judged by Vahni Capildeo and Tara Bergin.
‘Poets at second collection stage genuinely need recognition and encouragement,’ said Ledbury Poetry Festival director Chloe Garner. ‘I am sure that audiences will appreciate the opportunity to discover excellent books that might not yet have received the attention they deserve.’
This year's prize is for books published in the UK between 2015 and 2016. Submissions must be made by publishers. Self-published collections are not eligible.
Publishers should send three copies of each submitted collection by the closing date of 31 March.
