This year's theme is 'The Mash-up' and children are invited to write stories that mash up genres

The first prize is a four-day break for two adults and two children to DisneyLand Paris. The winning child's school will receive £500-worth of books.

The competition is for children under 14. Entries should be stories under 500 words that mash up two genres.

Lauren Childs (pictured) will be the judge of this year's National Young Writers ' Awards.

The closing date to enter is 7 June.
