Events are going on up and down the country to mark National Poetry Day, which this year is themed Stars. Visit the National Poetry Day website to find out what's going on in your area.

• Foyle announced the winners of the Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award 2012. A record 7,351 young poets entered this year, from 46 countries. The top fifteen are listed below, with a further 85 Commended Poets listed on the Foyle Young Poets website.

All 100 winning poets are invited to a prize giving at Royal Festival Hall today, where they will meet judges Helen Mort and Christopher Reid. They also receive book prizes and youth membership of the Poetry Society. The top fifteen also visit a residential writing week at the Hurst Arvon Centre in Shropshire.
