Young writers, win a publishing contract with #Merky Books, which is curated by Stormzy

The prize, launched in collaboration with The Good Agency and First Story, is for writers aged 16-30 and is to find a new work of fiction, non-fiction or poetry to publish.

‘I know too many talented writers that don’t always have an outlet or a means to get their work seen and hopefully #Merky Books can now be a reference point for them to say “I can be an author” and for that to be a realistic and achievable goal,' said Stormzy. 'Reading and writing as a kid were integral to where I am today and I from the bottom of my heart cannot wait to hear your stories and get them out into the big wide world.’ Stormzy's book, Rise Up, was #Merky Books' launch title last autumn.

To enter the #Merky Books New Writers' Prize, send a 200-word synopsis plus a 2,500-word extract (prose)/500-word extract (poetry). Writers entering the competition, which is to find new voices, should be unagented and should not have published a full-length work.

Entry is free. One manuscript per writer will be accepted.

The closing date is 12 April.
