The UK's biggest publisher is looking for new writers from communities under-represented on the nation's bookshelves
150 writers will be invited to three Insight Days in London, Birmingham and Manchester where they will learn about the publishing process and get individual feedback on work. Ten writers will subsequently be invited to join a new year-long mentoring programme. There is no guarantee of publication but Penguin Random House is actively interested in finding, mentoring and publishing new authors via WriteNow.
To apply, writers should come from a background under-represented in publishing, and should not be agented or under contract to publish a book, and should not have published a book in the last ten years with a commercial publishing house. Writers should be working on a book (fiction or non-fiction) that could be published in the next two years.
WriteNow has been set up by Penguin Random House in partnership with writer development charities Spread the Word, Writing East Midlands and Commonword.
Applications for WriteNow are open from today until 2 September. Send information about your book, a 1,000-word extract, and 500 words about why you write and how you meet the criteria.
