The review-writing contest has a £4,000 prize fund

The Observer/Anthony Burgess Prize for Arts Journalism is an annual award given for a previously unpublished review of new work in the arts.

The winner will receive £3,000 and their entry will the published in the Observer. There are two runners-up prizes of £500.

'New work' may be anything that has appeared since September 2020, and may come from the worlds of music, film, books, TV, art, performance, live-stream entertainment or social media entertainment. It's expected that some entries will focus on the online world of lockdown entertainment. Enter original, unpublished reviews up to 800 words.

The entry fee is £10.

The closing date is 30 November.
