Celebrate and support indie booksellers between 20 and 27 June (and all year round!)
The annual celebration of indie bookshops and booksellers has adapted to lockdown to provide virtual events for booklovers across the UK.
Events include readings with authors Maggie O'Farrell, Meg Rosoff, Cressida Cowell, Luan Goldie and Julia Bell; Damien Barr's literary salon with the focus on different indie bookshops each day; live Facebook events; podcasts; live interviews, and book recommendations. There will also be the launch of Thank You Heroes, a new picture book celebrating key workers by Patricia Hegerty and Michael Emmerson, and bookshops will be pairing up with indie publishers include Bluemoose Books and Wrecking Ball Press.
'Indie bookshops do so much for readers and writers—they’re the beating heart of publishing,' said Damien Barr. 'It’s a joy to be able to celebrate a different indie every day for a week, in addition to our Indie Bookshop of the Month feature on Salon. I’ve been desperate for a bookshop browse during lockdown so this will give people a chance to get among the shelves again.'
