Humour writing contest: To Hull and Back Short Story Competition 2019
The writer of the winning story will not only win cash. Their face will be on the anthology cover, which be ridden to Hull and back strapped to the front of Christopher Fielden's Harley Davidson
There are cash prizes, with the writer of the winning story receiving £1,000. The second prize is £500 and the third, £250. Three highly commended writers will each get £100, and 14 shortlisted writers get £50. All the winners will be published in the To Hull and Back Short Story Anthology 2019. The cover design of this will feature the face of the winner, who will be depicted riding a flaming motorcycle and holding a quill of wrath. Author Christopher Fielden will then strap the anthology to the front of his Harley Davidson and ride the book to Hull and back.
The competition is open internationally and is for short stories with a humorous twist up to 2,500 words. Stories may be in any style or genre as long as they are funny in some way. Stories may be written for adults or children.
Christopher Fielden has been runnning the To Hull and Back Short Story Competition since 2014. From this year, the competition will be biennial, with the next one launching in 2021.
The entry fee is £13 for one story, £21 for two and £26 for three.
