The UK edition of US blog-led news-site The Huffington Post has launched today, 6 July
It is the first edition of The Huffington Post, bought by AOL from Arianna Huffington earlier this year for $315million, to launch outside North America.
High-profile contributors to the launch issue include Tony Blair, Ricky Gervais, Zac Goldsmith, Sarah Brown, Alastair Campbell, Simon Napier-Bell and Peter Tatchell.
'We are arriving here in the midst of a rich and thriving media culture marked by great innovation,' said Arianna Huffington. 'We look forward to adding HuffPost UK to the mix.'
Set up in 2005, the US site had 36million unique users last month.
