Lindeth Howe Country House hotel in the Lake District, the competition organiser, was once the home of Beatrix Potter
Children entering the competition should be between 7 and 11. The haiku should be on what children like about the Lake District, in the traditional pattern of three lines: five syllables followed by seven syllables followed by five syllables. Children may enter up to three haiku. Incldue details of name, age and contact details.
The best haiku will be laid out on the Lindeth Howe lawns for a special Haiku at the Howe afternoon on 15 July. The best haiku will win a special trophy, a Beatrix Potter and a Pigling Bland toy. Beatrix Potter wrote and illustrated The Tale of Pigling Bland at Lindeth Howe.
The closing date is 1 July.
