The idea is simple: give someone a scary book in the run-up to Halloween. Neil has posted a video on the website explaining the concept, and you can follow the comments and scary book suggestions on Twitter at #allhallowsread. 'Spread the joy, spread the terror,' says Neil.

If anyone's stuck for a scary book to give away, the website contains a link in the Extras section to a print-and-fold mini-book of Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven.

Tweet us on @WritingMagazine and tell us which scary book you'd give - and to whom.
