The £2,000 award will fund a period of travel for a published writer living in the North of England

The Julia Darling Travel Fellowship, now in its second year, is given in memory of poet and author Julia Darling, whose novel Crocodile Soup was reissued last year to commemorate the 10th anniversary of her death. Julia was supportive and generous towards other writers and this award is inspired by her love of travel and the inspiration she found writing away from home.

The £2,000 award can by used to fund travel in the UK and internationally. It can also be used to support group applications by writers who would like to undertake residential writing retreats.

The Julia Darling Travel Fellowship 2016 is open to writers based in the North of England with at least one professionally published or produced work to their name.

To apply, send a brief description of how you would use the resource to fund your creative work (500 words), a brief biography (300 words), and state why now would be a good time to receive the support (300 words).

The closing date is 31 March.
