Brookleaze Grants support writers to take time out from their everday lives to write
Grants of a total of £5,000 are awarded annually by the Royal Society of Literature, with submission periods in spring and autumn.
The most recent recipients were novelist and short story writer Dan Powell and poet Shazea Quraishi.
Brookleaze Grants may be used to take sabbaticals from jobs, or to travel abroad for research, in order to write. To be eligible to apply, writers must have had work published, or have been newly commissioned, by a trade publisher in the UK, or produced by a UK theatre. Applicants must have been resident in the UK for for at least three years.
To apply, send a one-page letter describing the project on which you're engaged, explaining how the grant would be used and briefly outlining your financial circumstances.
The closing date to apply for an RSL Brookleaze Grant is 11 April.
