One winning essay will be be published in The Bookseller each month.
The inspiration for the competition is Profile Books' digital publishing director Michael Bhaskar, whose book The Content Machine looks at publishing's past and its digital future.
A panel of judges for the competition includes Bookseller editor Philip Jones. He said: 'Publishing has always been about big ideas; it's long been at the forefront of social and technological change, its people forward-thinking and articulate. We hope to tap into that.'
The first essay will be published at the end of November, and its writer will be invited to join the judging panel for the following month's essay.
To enter, send essays of up to 1,000 words by 8 November to [email protected]
