The authors and poets taking part in Read Regional 2014 are:
Novelists: Susan Elliot Wright, Gavin Extence, Rebecca Muddiman, Sarah Stovell, James Wheatley, Melvin Burgess, Niel Bushnell, Celia Bryce
Poets: Cara Brennan, Tara Bergin, Mark Robinson
The featured writers will be taking part in library events across Yorkshire and the north-east between February and May.
Participating poet Tara Bergin said: 'For the libraries hosting the events, and those attending, the readings and workshops offer a chance to hear literature being spoken by its creator, and to ask questions about the process of writing. There is always the possibility that there might be one person listening for whom what you say is – for some private reason or other – important.'
Read Regional was launched in 2008, and has run successfully since then.
Claire Malcolm, chief executive of New Writing North, said: 'Read Regional was a project that we started in 2008 on a hunch that readers were interested in authors who lived and worked in their region. The campaign took off and was hugely successful in the north east.
'Expanding our partnerships and activities from there was the obvious next step and we found that the libraries in Yorkshire were enthusiastic to work with us. Extending the focus of the campaign has meant that we can support more writers and promote their work to a very wide audience.'
