Deadline extended: The Desperate Literature Prize

The Desperate Literature Short Fiction Prize is for original, unpublished short fiction up to 2,000 words. As well as the cash prizes, the Prize offers opportunities for writers to have their work seen by literary agents and audiences.

The first prize is €1,500, a writing residency at the Civitella Ranieri Foundation in Italy and a consultation with Andrew Nurnberg literary agency. There are two runner up prizes of €750. All shortlisted writers will be published in  Desperate Literature anthology and in one of the Prize's partner journals, and will be invited to participate in a Desperate Literature salon (Covid permitting). One shortlisted writer will be offered a slot at the Tbilisi International Festival of Literature, a ten-day residency at the Writers' House of Georgia and a €400 travel stipend.

The entry fee is €20 for the first entry and €10 for any further entries.
