Win prizes for animal poems and stories and raise funds for the Mane Chance horse sanctuary
The Mane Chance Writing Competition is for poems and short stories (up to 1,500 words) about the special relationship between humans and animals. There are four categories: age 10 and under; age 11-14; 15-18 years, and adults. The winners and runners up in each category will be published and receive cash prizes. The winners in the children’s categories will also win £500-worth of sportswear for their school. There will also be horse-related prizes for highly commended entrants.
The Mane Chance Sanctuary cares for maltreated horses, promotes equine welfare and provides equine therapy, particularly for young and vulnerable children.
The competition’s lead judge is Michael Morpurgo. All proceeds will go towards the support of the horses and the sanctuary.
The closing date is 10 July.
