Win £1,000 in the biennial competition from InterAct Stroke Support

The competition is for short stories in any genre, up to 1,000 words. All stories must be suitable to be read in a hospital setting. The winner, whose story will be chosen by Margaret Drabble, will receive £1,000 and will be commissioned by InterAct Stroke Support to write four futher stories over the course of a year.

Ruth Rendell was a patron of the InterAct Stroke Support charity. The competition, which was launched in 2008, continues to inspire writers in her honour. 2020 will be the charity's 20th anniversary.

The entry fee is £15 per story.

The closing date is 2 December.
