Win £1,000 and agent introduction in the competition for unpublished novelists
To enter the annual competition from the Bluepencilagency, writers must be unpublished and unrepresented.
The winner will receive £1,000 and the runner up gets a manuscript assessment. The winner and runner up will both be introduced to a literary agent. This year's judges are literary agent Helle Ogden and author Kiran Millwood-Hargrave.
To enter, send the opening chapter or chapters up to 5,000 words plus a 300-word synopsis and a short bio. Any genre of fiction for adults is welcome. YA is also permitted as long as there's an adult crossover. The judges will be particularly looking for an arresting opening paragraph, a gripping, original and unforgettable story and a strong voice. Shortlisted writers will be asked to provide 20,000 words of their manuscript.
The entry fee is £20.
The closing date is 31 May.
