This year's contest is for short fiction on the theme of 'Notes'

Harper's Bazaar magazine has a long history of publishing original fiction by authors from Henry James and Virginia Woolf to Chimamanda Ngozie Adichie and Ali Smith.

For this year's short story competition, published and unpublished authors are invited to send original, unpublished stories up to 2,200 words on this year's 'Notes' theme.

The winner will have the chance to see their work published in Harper's Bazaar, and will receive a two-night stay, including breakfast and dinner, in one of the tree houses at Callow Hall in the Peak District.

Entry is free.

The closing date is 26 February.
