Run by the Costa Book Awards, the annual Costa Short Story Award shortlist is voted for by the public. The competition, which launches today, is for original, previously unpublished and unbroadcast short stories up to 4,000 words by writers whose primary residence is in the UK or Ireland.
Entries may be submitted by authors, agents and publishers. Only one entry per author is permitted.
The three shortlisted entries will be posted on the Costa website in November, and the public will be invited to vote for their favourite. The shortlisted writers will be invited to the Costa Book Awards presentation ceremony in January, where the winner will be announced.
Entry is free. The closing date is 4 August.
