The international competition is open to fiction writers and poets
The competition is run by Galway's literary events organisation Over the Edge. This year's judge will be Nicki Griffin.
The total prize money is €1,000. Each winner in the short story and poetry categories receives €300, and the overall winner will receive a further €400 and the title of Over the Edge New Writer of the Year. The winner will be a featured reader at an Over the Edge event in Galway City Library. Salmon Poetry will read a manuscript submitted to them by the poetry winner, and Doire Press will read a manuscript submitted by the short story winner.
To enter, writers must not have published a book in the genre in which they enter. Chapbooks and pamphlets are excepted. All entries must be original and unpublished. Enter short stories up to 3,000 words, three poems of up to 40 lines or one poem of up to 100 lines.
The fee for one entry is €10, with reduced fees for multiple entries.
The closing date is 9 August.
