There are categories for Novel for Adults, Short Story and Flash Fiction

The judges for this year's Women's Fiction Competition from Mslexia include Hilary Mantel, A L Kennedy and Marianne Tatepo.

Novel for Adults: The competition is for unpublished novel manuscripts of at least 50,000 words, in any genre for adult or young adult readers, by writers who have not previously published a novel. The judges are Hilary Mantel, Marianne Tatepo and Jo Unwin. The first prize is £5,000. The winner and three finalists will also receive feedback from The Literary Consultancy, pitch training, and introductions to agents and editors. Submit the first 5,000 words.Longlisted authors will be asked to submit their complete manuscripts. The entry fee is £25.

Short Story: The competition is for original, unpublished short stories up to 3,000 words, in any genre, for adult or young adult readers. The judge is A L Kennedy. The first prize is £3,000 and a mentoring session with a specialist literary agent. Three runners up will each get £100. The three winners will be published in Mslexia and the winners and eight additional shortlisted entries will be published in Mslexia's inaugural ebook anthology in December. The entry fee is £12.

Flash Fiction: The competition is for original, unpublished flash up to 300 words, in any genre for adult or young adult readers. The judge is Jude Higgins. The winner will receive £500, with £50 each for three runners up. The winners and eight additional shortlisted entries will be published in Mslexia's ebook anthology. The entry fee is £6.

The closing date for the 2021 Women's Fiction Competition is 20 September 2021.
