The contest provides opening and closing lines chosen from classic works of literature

The annual Literary Taxidermy Writing Competition is an international contest from Regulus Press, where participants are provided with opening and closing lines and invited to create a piece of writing (story or poem) up to 2,000 words. Entries may be in any style or genre. This year's contest is a fundraiser for Ukraine.

For this year's contest, writers can choose from pairs of first/last lines by four authors: Agatha Christie, Langston Hughes, A.A. Milne and Edgar Allen Poe.

The writer of the winning story will receive $500. Runners up will receive $50. The winner and runners up will be published in the 2022 Literary Taxidermy Anthology.

The entry fee is $10 per story or poem.

The closing date is 11 July.
