The prize is for unpublished fiction by debut children's authors from the North of England
The partnership between Hachette Children's Group and New Writing North offers awards to two winning writers of middle grade or early teen fiction. Each winner will receive £3,000 and a nine-month programme of development opportunities with Hachette Children's Group and a children's publishing agent.
Since 2018 the Hachette Children's Novel Award has been a key strand of the Northern Writers Awards. 2023 marks the start of a new three-year agreement.
To enter, submit fiction for children aged 7-11 or 11-13. Send the first 3,000-6,000 words and a synopsis.
Entry is free.
The closing date is 10 March.
