The new competition is for short crime thriller chiller fiction

For Crime Essays' new fiction competition, the judges are particularly interested in short crime stories with a twist in the tale, fresh approaches and captivating writing.

There is a first prize of £300, a second prize of £100 and a third prize of £75. The fourth to 20th placed writers will each receive £10. The top twenty writers may be published in The Crime Essays 2023 Crime Anthology, published in autumn 2023.

Enter original, unpublished short crime fiction between 1,000 and 3,000 words.

The early bird entry fee is £3 per submission up to 1 December, and then £5.

The closing date is 23 January.
