The competition has a £1,100 first prize and is for writers who have not conventionally published a novel

To enter, send the first 3,000 words of an unpublished novel manuscript. Entries must be original and unpublished, and may be in any genre. Writers do not need to have written more than the novel opening.

The winner will receive £1,100. The ten shortlisted entries will all receive feedback from lead judge, author Patrick Gleeson.

Conventionally published novelists are not eligible to enter.

The entry fee is £19 up to 30 September, and then £24.

The closing date is 15 October.
