Creative writing competition: The Manchester Writing Competition 2021 Images

The annual Manchester Writing Competition, established in 2008 by Carol Ann Duffy, offers the UK's highest prizes for unpublished literary work, with £10,000 each to the winner of the poetry and short fiction categories.

• The Manchester Poetry Prize is awarded for a portfolio of poems (three to five, with a combined length of no more than 120 lines). All poems should be original and unpublished. The chair of poetry judges is Malika Booker. The entry fee is £18 per poetry portfolio.

• The Manchester Fiction Prize is awarded for a short story up to 2,500 words. All entries should be original and unpublished. The chair of fiction judges is Nicholas Royle. The entry fee is £18 per story.

The closing date for the Mancester Writing Competition is 28 January 2022.
