This year's competition is for short stories inspired by the theme of 'The Uncanny'

Comma Press is inviting entries for its annual contest in memory of its much-loved director and founding board member, the writer Dinesh Allirajah.

The theme of 'the uncanny' relates to the term first coined by Sigmund Freud for an unsettling psychologcal experience that feels strangely familiar.

There is a first prize of £500 and all ten shortlisted writers will be published in an ebook anthology by Comma Press.

Enter original, unpublished short stories between 2,000 and 7,500 words.

Entry is free.
