The deadline to enter has been extended to 28 February

The Desperate Literature Prize for Short Fiction has a first prize of €1,000 and a week's residency at Civitella Ranieri Foundation (pictured). Two runners up will each receive €250.

All shortlisted writers will be published in a limited edition Risograph booklet. One shortlisted winner will be selected for a week's residency at Casa Ana. Shortlisted writers will be also published in 3:AM, Structo Magazine, Helter Skelter, The London Magazine and (women only) The Second Shelf, and will be invited to take part in Desperate Literature Prize Salons in Madrid, Paris and London.

To enter, send original, unpublished work up to 2,000 words.

The entry fee is €20 for the first entry and €10 for any subsequent entries.

The closing date is 28 February.
