Pitch standalone romances with LGBTQI+ protagonists to Mills & Boon

The Romance Includes Everyone competition from Mills & Boon and the Romantic Novelists' Association invites writers to pitch standalone romance novels that celebrate LGBTQI+ characters on 21 May.

Lisa Milton, executive publisher of Mills & Boon, said: ‘We want to publish romances for everyone, acquiring stories celebrating LGBTQI+ characters is crucial to ensure that we continue to serve our readers today and tomorrow.’

Pitches may be submitted on that day only, via Twitter or Facebook using the hashtag #LGBTQLoveStories. Pitches should be no longer than 50 characters. If a pitch receives a 'like' the writer may then send a first chapter, a synopsis and a paragraph about why they feel passionate about championing LGBTQI+ characters in commercial fiction.

Mills & Boon are looking for full-length (80,000-words or more) emotional LGBTQI+ romances with strong voices, great characters and an irresistible hook.

The competition window for pitches will be 21 May.
