Now in its 21st year, the international contest from Carve Magazine offers $3,000 in prizes

The Raymond Carver Short Story Contest is for short literary fiction up to 10,000 words.

The first prize is $2,000. the second is $500, the thirs is $250, and there are two Editors' Choice prizes of $125. The winning stories will be read by literary agents Nat Sobel (Sobel-Weber Associates, US), Erin Harris (Folio Literary Management, US) and Viola Hayden (Curtis Brown UK). The winning stories will be published in the print edition of Carve and online. The 2021 guest judge is Leesa Cross-Smith.

The entry fee is $17. Each writer may enter one story.
