The prestigious annual international short fiction competition from Carve magazine has a $1,500 first prize

The competition is for original, unpublished literary fiction up to 10,000 words.

As well as the first prize, there is a second prize of $500, a third of $250 and two editor's choice prizes of $125. The winners will be published in the fall edition of Carve literary magazine. Winning stories will be read by literary agents Nat Sobel (Sobel-Weber Associates), Erin Harris (Folio Literary Management) and Catherine Cho (Curtis Brown UK). This year's guest judge is Susan Perabo.

Entries may come from anywhere in the world.

The entry fee is $17 online and $15 by post.

The closing date is 15 May.
