The contest for short-form writing has two first prizes of £1,000
The international Quiet Man Dave Prize is run by Manchester Writing School at Manchester Metropolitan University to celebrate the life of writer and theatre critic Dave Murray, who blogged as Quiet Man Dave, and to promote new short form writing, which Dave loved.
There are two categories: flash fiction (up to 500 words) and flash non-fiction (up to 500 words). In each category there is a first prize of £1,000, as well as runner-up prizes of £200 and £50 in each category. The 2024 judges are Catherine Love, Mufaro Makubiika and Michael Pinchbeck.
The entry fee is £5 per piece. There are sponsored (free) entries for writers who would not otherwise be able to participate (email for details).
The closing date is 25 October.
