The prize has categories for LGBTQIA+ adult and children's/YA fiction
Run by literary agency PFD, the prize for LGBTQIA+ writers is intended to discover emerging talent. The competition is for unagented writers working on fiction who have not previously published a full-length novel or picture book. Manuscripts don't need to be completed at the time of entry. Works don't need to address the LGBTQIA+ experience (although the judges are particularly interested in entries with LGBTQIA+ characters and themes) but must be written by writers who identify as LGBTQIA+.
Winners will be signed to the agency and supported to complete their novels.
• The adult category is for fiction in all categories. It will be judged by author Tufayel Ahmed and agent Cara Lee Simpson. Submit three chapters and a synopsis.
• The children's/young adult category is for YA fiction across all genres, and will be judged by author Pil Van Marten and agent Silvia Molteni. Submit three chapters and a synopsis.
Entry is free.
The closing date is 1 March 2023.
