There is a £20,000 prize for the best book published through Kindle Direct Publishing on Amazon between 1 May and 31 August

Announced today, the Kindle Storyteller Prize is now in its second year. It celebrates self-published authors and will be awarded for an outstanding title in any genre made available in ebook and in print through Kindle Direct Publishing between 1 May and 31 August.

The winner will receive £20,000 and a publishing agreement with Amazon. Each finalist will receive a Kindle Oasis e-reader.

Books entered for the Kindle Storyteller Prize 2018 must be original, previously unpublished and a minimum of 24 pages. Judging will be based on a number of factors, including customer interest. A shortlist of a minimum of five finalists will be judged by a panel of publishing and industry experts.

Claire Allfree, Metro’s literary editor, who is one of the judges said: ‘My favourite thing about this prize is the diversity of literary genres and authors, as I witnessed whilst on the judging panel this year. I’m excited to read the shortlist again and to see what brilliant and talented writers from across the country submit again’.

Entry is free. The closing date is 31 August.
