Win a £1,500 first prize in the competitition for unrepresented authors
The Grindstone International Novel Prize is inviting entries of the first 5,000 words of full-length fiction manuscripts. Writers entering the competition may be unpublished, previously published or self published, but must not be represented by a literary agent.
The winner will receive £1,500. There is a runner-up prize of £500 and four shortlist prizes of £100. All the longlisted entries will be forward to agents affiliated to Grindstone Literary.
Novels may be in any adult fiction or YA genre. Manuscripts may be finished or part-finished, and have a finished or projected-finish length of at least 70,000 words. Include an elevator pitch and a brief synopsis (300-400 words) with the first 5,000 words.
The entry fee is £16 up to 1 May, £18 to 1 July and then £20.
The closing date is 1 October.
